Statement of Changes in Immigration Rules HC 1534 presented to parliament 11 October 2018

Today Home Office has published a statement of changes and it is laid before Parliament for approval which confirms that the immigration health surcharge will double from £200 to £400 in December 2018.

This statement of changes includes three other major elements;

  • Changes in Appendix EU and implementation of a second pilot phase of the EU Settlement Scheme, to run from 1 November. The first phase pilot is now over and was “very positive”.
  • Introducing the new “Calais leave” for children transferred to the UK as part of the Calais camp clearance between October 2016 and July 2017. This had been announced on 13 September.
  • Changes to the general visa application process, including the requirements to post passports and original documents. This is part of the new in-country application system, announced in May and now being rolled out at what is being called “UK Visa and Citizenship Application Services centres” from next month.

Third, this Statement of Changes amends the Immigration Rules on the requirements for a valid application to support the operation of the new application process in UK Visas and Immigration and specifies evidence for a medical exemption from Knowledge of Language and/or Life in the UK requirements
